I need a doctor...

For those of you living under rocks not yet explored by the good Doctor, the longest-running science fiction television show ever is about to be re-born... Again. BBC has officially announced that Doctor Who's 12th Doctor is to be played by Peter Capaldi.

Take a moment and marvel at how long this show has been running. We are very nearly to the 50 year anniversary. Whether you watch the show or not you have to admit that's impressive.

Now take a moment and remember that Peter Capaldi previously made the David Tennant version of the Doctor and Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate) his household gods in season 4, episode 2: The Fires of Pompeii.

Is anyone else hoping that Doctor Who acknowledges this? I mean, appearing in an episode is one thing. Worshiping the Doctor is another. Caecilius is also one of the few one time wonders to actually ride in the TARDIS. Yet another reason to acknowledge the connection.

Wouldn't it be great for Peter Capaldi to look in the mirror and say, "Hey, I've seen this man before!" Except, hopefully in a more witty way. Maybe even have memory remnants of his past life?

I guess we will have to wait until Christmas to find out what happens. Until then we can always have fun speculating. What do you think and/or hope will happen with the newest reincarnation?
