An Ode To Large Silicone Muffin Cups

Share it Please
On Sunday I went to World Market and bought these beauties: Large Silicone Muffin Cups. I think I'm about to go through a muffin craze. What's better than a muffin? An extra large muffin. Obviously.

According to the instructions the muffin wrappers can be used by just setting them on top of a cookie sheet. I don't know how I feel about that, with my clumsiness I would likely knock a cup over in my oven. Fortunately for me I already have some super cheap large muffin tins I bought from Walmart a while back. I always put wrappers on my muffins, though, because otherwise it is too difficult to get the muffins out of the tin. Plus, you can serve them like little individual treats or store them more easily.

Here are my top 3 reasons why the silicone muffin cups are better than the paper wrappers:

1) They are easier on your wallet and better for the environment. These are reusable, unlike the paper ones, which means you only have to buy them once and you won't be filling up landfills with all your obsessive muffin baking. At $4.99 you can't go wrong. They also come in red (Christmas, anyone?).

2) I love silicone. Silicone allows you to do just about anything to it. It's non-stick so the muffins just pop right out when you press the bottom, it is dishwasher safe, microwave safe, heat resistant up 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and silicone can go directly from your freezer to your oven without a problem.

3) The cups are slightly taller than my muffin tins, so even after my muffins had risen fully they weren't touching the metal. Less cleaning, score! (Also, as I mentioned earlier, you can just pop these gems into your dishwasher.)

I am so obsessed with these at the moment that my blog may be taken over by muffins and cupcakes. Buckle up.
