My Neighbor Totoro!

I absolutely adore Hayao Miyazaki films and the very first one I ever saw was My Neighbor Totoro. They are cute, whimsical, and often times have an underlying deep issue. My Neighbor Totoro is mostly light-hearted fun, but also follows how two young girls deal with a very sick and, by necessity, distant mother. Totoro is the mystical and friendly wood spirit that lives next door. If you haven't seen all of Hayao Miyazaki's films I suggest that you purchase them all and settle in for the most delightful movie marathon of your life this weekend.

I have been wanting a Totoro plushie ever since I found out there was such a thing. I've also always wanted a stuffed animal from my boyfriend/fiance/and now husband. In the last 4 years I've never got one. Until now. And it was the best possible plushie he could have gotten me.

I'm also wearing my Studio Ghibli shirt. You can see Totoro peaking out from under my arm.

I absolutely love it. I've been carrying it around all day at home. It is my early Christmas gift. Hubby works on Christmas Day, so we've been having fun doing little Christmasy things all month since we don't get our designated holiday/dinner.

This gift meant a lot because it means Hubby has been paying attention, and he did a lot of research to get me the perfect plushie. He even got one that is certified by Studio Ghibli and had to import it from Japan. What a thoughtful, loving husband!

  2. Aw this is such a nice gift! I love Totoro and all Studio Ghibli films for that matter. My boyfriend has got me one for Christmas too..I have not opened it yet but I was the one who accepted the post and it was pretty obvious what it was. The fact it had Japanese stamps on it and was Totoro shaped gave it away lol x
