How To: Give A Great Massage

Share it Please
Most of us aren't massage therapists, but we can still give our loved ones a great night of relaxation. Giving a massage can be hard work so knowing what you are doing makes it a little easier. Plus, if you give someone else a great massage they are more likely to give you one another day.

First off you are going to want to buy massage oil. This not only makes the massage feel better, but makes it easier on you. Then set the mood with some relaxing music and candles. I highly recommend battery operated candles if you are setting them around your bed. Hubby and I like to draw up a bath, make some relaxing tea, and add a bath fizzy (normally we get muscle relaxing ones for him and stress relieving ones for me), then we give a head massage to whoever is getting the spa night while they soak. After the warm bath his or her muscles should be relaxed from the heat, so it is a great time to give a massage. Have a towel ready by the bed so you can wipe off the oil when you are done.

Below I've included some great videos. One is 2 hours of relaxing music. I normally start this before the bath and it is long enough to go through the massage. One shows you how to give a great head and neck massage without using any oil, and the third shows how to give a great back and neck massage with oil. Both of these massages are for people sitting up since most of you won't have massage beds at home (I wish I did, but I don't either). Enjoy and start your week off right!

  1. Do you watch the Bachelor?? There was a girl on it last night who was a massage therapist! She forced Juan Pablo into a massage on night 1... kind of awkward but super funny!!

    1. I used to watch the Bachelor all the time, but I haven't the last couple years. It was a girls night thing where we'd buy wine and gather snacks. When I moved I just kind of stopped watching, but that show! Oh man, memories. Lol. That is so awkward! I can't imagine giving a massage to someone I didn't know really well!
