Literary Libations: Easy Mojito

Share it Please
Hi guys, it's another Monday. As my American readers probably know, it is President's Day, which means I have the day off and I promise to spend it doing lots of prep-work for upcoming posts. In the mean time, have a drink!

I normally make my mojitos from scratch and, let's be honest, they taste best that way. Sometimes, though, I just don't want to take the time or if I have people over it would take me quite a while to make everyone a mojito from scratch. A great alternative is Rose's Mojito mix, just add rum! If you chill the mix in the fridge first all you have to do is add one part rum for every three parts mojito mix and then plop in an ice cube. The one thing I hate about ice cubes is that they melt and water down your drink, so I added frozen strawberries instead.

If, like me, you are too impatient to wait for your mix to chill you can throw the whole thing in a shaker with a few ice cubes and shake until chilled. Now, I think a mojito should always have a splash of club soda to give it that sparkle, so after adding 1 ounce of rum and 3 ounces of mojito mix to my glass I filled it the rest of the way with club soda.

*Warning: If you have some how not read Harry Potter yet, there are spoilers ahead*

I'm now on to Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows, the very last book! I watched the fourth movie last night and I was surprised by two things: I realized Barty Crouch Jr. is also The Doctor, a.k.a. David Tenant, which for some reason I thought was pretty funny, and I also realized just how much of the book was left out or changed for the movie. Dobby doesn't even appear at all in the movie! Any way, I will be spending the next bit reading about horcruxes so it will be a really light-hearted time. Just kidding. I'm still sad that Dumbledor died. Sigh.

  2. Great idea of adding frozen fruits to a drink instead of ice cubes. How have I never thought of that?

Also, whaat! did you watch the movies before you read the books?

    1. No, haha, I read the books first and am on my second read through. It's just been a long time. And even on the second read through it makes me sad that Dumbledore dies!
