Impromptu Posts: Relax!

What to do after a long stressful day? Relax! The other day I gave myself a little a spa treatment in my own home. Yep, that's right, I gifted a spa day to myself. Way to go, me.

I'd like to take a moment and point out my tub is fake marble, so those aren't a bunch of dirt streaks.

I started out pouring myself a drink to to enjoy while soaking. I treated myself to a ruby-red wine cooler. I 'lit' and electric candle for the bath side to create a bit of ambiance and placed my Kindle by the bath so I could sink into a story.

Before climbing in I treated myself to a coconut oil face mask (which turned out to be a bit too big for my head). Needless to say the mask doesn't look anything like it's picture, but it felt good.

LUSH has some beautiful bath bombs, like Phoenix Rising which I used the other day. A royal purple sprinkled with gold dust, it looks like luxury. Infused with jojoba oil, Phoenix Rising is great for dry skin and I got out of the bath feeling like silk.

Much less expensive than an actual spa day, I spent around $10 on my little night of relaxation - including the drink. I came out feeling rested and ready to tackle the rest of my evening. When things get stressful, be sure to give yourself a little you time. Be that reading poetry, painting your nails, or a soak in the bath, re-centering yourself will help you feel ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.

  6. Did you like those masks? I have been having a lot of problems with my skin lately and can't get into the dermatologist until April 3! I've been thinking a weekly mask might be helpful but there are so many I don't know what to buy!

    1. Hi Darcy, I did enjoy the face mask (I bought it at Whole Foods for $1.99) and it was intended to moisturize skin and make it more elastic. If you are having serious skin problems, though, I don't know how far this one mask would go to help, and it would also depend on what kind of problems you are having (I'm always dry and flaky). One place to check out would be LUSH. Toners could be one possibility as they are an extra step between cleansing and moisturizing (http://www.lushusa.com/Toners-and-Steamers/toners-and-toner-tabs,en_US,sc.html) and their Fresh Face Masks would be another way to help (http://www.lushusa.com/Fresh-Face-Masks/fresh-face-masks,en_US,sc.html). What I like about LUSH is that they generally use quality, fresh ingredients and they do a very good job of explaining exactly what each product is supposed to do. If you go in to a LUSH store and tell a sales floor rep exactly what you want the product to do for you, they are normally very good at giving advice and explaining why that product will help. Hope that helps you until April!
