Impromptu Post: Round Robin Blogging

Share it Please

In college I was blessed to make a lot of friends in the writing field (maybe because I majored in English or something like that). One such friend is Katie of Hot, Strong, and Totally Steamed. She is awesome for a whole variety of reasons, but some of the more prevalent reasons on her blog are all her super hero shenanigans, taking over the world, and generally not being afraid to tell her own awkward and hilarious stories. She says things like, "Our bodies never really grow out of being 2-year-olds," and she writes about her own legitimate super powers. If you would like to see her answers to the Round Robin, you can find her post here.

I'll introduce you to another awesome friend below. (Hint: if you are engaged to be married, you definitely want to check out her blog.)

Ok, now I'll answer my questions.

Mostly I'm working on this blog. I have novel I'm 'working on,' but I don't know if it counts if you haven't touched it in 6 months. Oops. I did just have an article posted on Rock & Sling's website and I would LOVE if you went over there and left a comment or even just 'liked' the post. That's the one shameless plug I'll allow myself today (any others will be completely filled with shame).

That's a bit of a tough question as there a tons of lifestyle blogs out on the internet today. I think my 'uniqueness' is a combination of a few things. First off I cover a fairly large range of topics and I keep it on schedule. Mondays I post drink recipes and talk about literature, Tuesdays I ramble about whatever I want to (like today!), Wednesday I post a super easy recipe, and Fridays I teach you how to do something. Really, I'm sure other blogs talk about these things. In fact, I've read blogs that talk about these things. What I hope really makes my blog different from others out there is that I try to infuse my personality into every post.

I write things that I would want to read. I'm always looking for easy recipes I can pull off when I'm dead tired on a week night, so that's what I write about. I love finding other women who read and I can sit with and analyze the heck out of a book and wine always seems to be an essential part of these conversations, so I write about literature and drinks. I think you get the idea.

Having a schedule really helps. I know what topics I'll be writing about, so during the week I keep my eyes and ears peeled for inspiration. If no inspiration has struck by the end of the week I normally spend part of Saturday brain storming so that I have an idea of where I'd like my writing to go. Other than that my writing always seems to take on a life of it's own.

Thanks for reading my answers! Now for that promised introduction: Alyssa of The Wedding Apocalypse: The Trauma & Triumph writes about the frustrating side of planning a wedding all while maintaining a sense of humor. Unlike most wedding bloggers she gets down into the nitty-gritty numbers, dealing with unresponsive DJs, and how overwhelming planning a wedding can be on top of your day job. If you would like to see her answers to the Round Robin, they can be found here.

I hope you check out Katie and Alyssa's blogs. Happy Tuesday!
