Wine & Friends!

Share it Please

I've been having so much fun and been so busy! As I mentioned in my last post, my best friend Jamie is here visiting and we've been having a blast! On Sunday we went to the Albuquerque Wine Festival (AWF). We spent the day wandering around tasting local wines, eating cheese, and snacking on New Mexican food. Hubby was awesome and came along as our designated driver, so we got to enjoy ourselves worry free. Jamie and I really liked Anasazi Fields Winery, their normal wines are quite delicious, but more intriguing are their pure (insert fruit) wines. For example they have a wine named Oro De Placitas that is made of pure apricot and another named Capulin that is pure wild choke cherries. One of my very favorites is the 2009 Synaesthesia which is "A field blend of Syrah, Black Malvasia and Gamay grapes grown by us in the Historic Village of Placitas. We use a 'co-sequential fermentation' process to produce a deep, multi-layered, seductive red wine with notes of plums, cherries, figs, black pepper and Mediterranean spices. A well-crafted wine that will only get better as it continues to age in the bottle."

On Monday we went to a Memorial Day pool party and barbecue and then it was back to work. We've been hanging out in the evenings and today she's even making me dinner while I'm at work since it's my birthday!  I hope you all are having a wonderful week and thank you for being patient with my infrequent posts this last week!

  3. You should! I've always wanted to take a class, too. You should take a class and then go to a festival after it is over as a celebration!

    1. Lots of places have wine festivals, but the west coast really does seem to have a lot of the big ones. New Mexico has about 3 big ones a year, I'm sure California has several, and I know Washington state has a lot of them. You'll just have to come out west sometime!
