Literary Libations: Mint Lemonade

Share it Please
If you remember my Raspberry Italian Soda from last month, you'll remember that I decided to make a non-alcoholic drink every so often. Today we will enjoy another drink you can feel free to share with your kids!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you treated your mother to a wonderful day yesterday. If you did, pat yourself on the back and whip up today's delicious drink for yourself. All you need is mint tea and lemonade. Yes, it's that simple! I actually used my Keurig with a mint tea pod and had it make a medium sized drink. If you don't have a Keurig, never fear! Simply make half a glass of mint tea. Once your piping hot tea is prepared, stick your glass in the freezer for an hour or so until it is at least slightly cool. Take your glass out of the freezer and your lemonade out of the fridge. Top up the glass with lemonade and you are done! You now have a semi-sweet and very refreshing treat with a great after taste. If you like mojitos this tastes like a toned down version without the alcohol. Enjoy!

Tip: This drink should be equal parts mint tea and lemonade. It doesn't matter how large or small your glass so long as the drink is half and half.

The Summer Day - by Mary Oliver

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean--
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down--
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
