Fire courtesy of Katryn! |
This last weekend my husband and I went camping with my friend Katryn. In the evening we sat around the campfire drinking and looking at the beautiful stars. Nothing quite compliments camping like a nice glass of red wine. I purposely picked out a bottle that was cheap (so I wouldn't be crushed if I accidentally broke it) and that seemed camping themed. Frontier Red worked out nicely! The label description read: "Dark fruit aromas of black cherry, blackberry and black raspberry along with pepper jump from the glass at first exposure. Added notes of sage, smoke, leather and vanilla complete this incredible bouquet. Cranberry, black cherry and red currant combine with smoke and dark chocolate flavors that accentuate the sweet mid-palate and help produce a soft, velvety finish."
This last weekend I also finished the book Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. It is also accompanied nicely by a glass of red wine. Now I keep my blog rated PG and under, so I want to give fair warning that this book contains swear words. So if you are sensitive to language, this is not the book for you. However, if that isn't going to slow you down, Let's Pretend This Never Happened is seriously one of the funniest books I've ever read. I laughed aloud every five minutes or so. My husband kept looking at me like I was a maniac. Probably because he was quietly sitting on the couch minding his own business and then I would start laughing and crying simultaneously. It also probably doesn't help that when I laugh really hard I lose the ability to breath, so I started out he-hawing and then quickly started to quietly strangle myself while tears rolled out of my eyes. You know, elegant laughter.
This book is a memoir of Jenny's life, from childhood up through the year 2008. She starts out as a young girl in Texas, growing up with poisonous drinking water and a father who is a taxidermist and keeps (live) turkeys and bobcats as pets. The usual. What? You haven't had a turkey follow you into school and poop all over the cafeteria? She grows into a beautifully awkward woman who gets married and then proceeds to (lovingly) torture her husband with all her crazy ideas and ideals. It's definitely worth the read. I also recommend that you buy either the paperback or Kindle version as it has some extra content that the hardback book doesn't have. You're welcome.
Interesting i might have to read thanks.
