Since I can afford to spend more than $4, I plan to use some of these recipes as bases and then get creative and add extra flavor. However, if you are feeling a little strapped for cash this is a great way to save some money without compromising your food (you still get to use fresh and healthy ingredients). The beginning of the book even walks you through how to go grocery shopping so that you maximize you money and your cupboard space.
If you try any of these recipes, let me know what you think!
I need to check that book out what a great find can I find in Kindle.

Looks great! I find the trouble with cheap meals though is that they are usually cheap bc they are many servings. It's much easier to feed 6 people for $5 per head than it is 2 people!

I know exactly what you are talking about, I've had that same issue before. The difference with this book is two fold, first the total cost of the meal is around $4, not just the individual servings, and second most of these meals serve two to four people. On each of the recipes she gives the total cost of the meal and the cost per serving so you don't have to break it down or add it up yourself. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI'm definitely checking this book out! I need some new recipes and cheap is always a bonus!

My go-to "good and cheap" meals usually involve eggs in some way. A nice egg scramble with 4 eggs, 1 onion, 1 bunch of spinach, and 1 tomato is one of my favorite 2 person meals that's definitely under $4 (of course we used to live near onion fields and buy our onions for $3 for 20 lb bags, so maybe that skews the price).
ReplyDeleteWhere you live always skews the price, but onions aren't overly expensive. Thanks for the great idea! I'll have to try it!
DeleteI have always been curious about recipes in books like that! I have never made one; I don't know why not! They have some great looking ones!
