Card Store

The following product was given to me for free, but all opinions are my own.

I don't know about you, but I really dislike picking out cards for people's birthday's and events. I know, that sounds terrible, but hear me out. There reason I don't like it is that often the cards at stores feel so impersonal I don't know why I'm spending $5 or more on it, wouldn't it be better just to write a letter and give it to them with the gift? It would be more meaningful and it's free. Additionally I have to drive to the store and by the time I've waded through all the cards and found a decent one it seems I've wasted a whole bunch of time.

That's where Card Store (www.cardstore.com) comes in. It has several things going for it, the first of which being that it's online. I love not having to drive to the store, so that makes me really happy. The second item is that most of the cards are $3.49, which is cheaper than the majority of cards I've found. The third, and my favorite, is that you can choose designs where you get to add your own photograph. To me that makes the card much more personal and it's more likely for the person to cherish and/or display the card for a little while. That's huge!

For my husband's 25th birthday I chose the 'Romantic Quote Overlay' design, which I loved because I was able to add one of our engagement photos to the front and I thought the quote was really sweet.  The front of the card says "How beautiful is love and how beautiful life is for those who share it." On the inside it reads "Everything in my life is so much better because of you. Happy birthday with all my heart." I also added a personal message for my Hubby telling him how much I appreciate and love him.

Since this card was for my hubby and we live together, I decided to just have the card sent to me. That way I could put it in the envelope myself (and sneak in a few blog pictures) and then hand it to him on his birthday. If you don't live in the same household as the person you are sending your card to, they will also put it in an envelope and send it off for you. I was actually quite impressed because they gave me several envelopes, which I thought was nice because I frequently mess up people's addresses and have to start over again.

All in all I thought the card quality was top notch, I couldn't find one negative thing about it. In fact, I would say my photos don't quite do it justice. The only thing is that you have to remember to buy your card with enough time to be mailed out, but that's going to be an issue anyway if you aren't handing the card over in person. I would highly recommend giving Card Store a try based off of my experience.

Have you ever used an online card service before? What was your experience like?

  3. I agree- cards feel really impersonal. But you can't just NOT get someone a birthday card. This is a muuuuch better solution! :)

  9. Never thought about an online card service, but definitely a great idea. I never get cards out on time, because when I'm actually in town at the store I totally forget, every time. This might actually be perfect for me, thanks!
